Freshmen duo to make Badger debut this weekend at St. Cloud State
With the 2016-17 Wisconsin women's hockey season kicking off this weekend, UWBadgers.com gives fans an inside look into the eight newest members of the Badgers before they hit the ice this season.
The final installment in the series features freshmen Presley Norby and Maddie Rowe.
A Minnetonka, Minnesota, native, Norby served as captain for the Minnetonka High School Skippers in her last season, and earned the title of Ms. Hockey Minnesota. Winning the Minnesota State Championship in 2013, Norby and the Skippers were the State Runner-up in 2015. Norby captained the 2015 Team USA under-18 in its series with Canada, helping Team USA to the gold medal. Most notably, Norby suited up for the U.S. at the 2015 Four Nations Cup, helping the team win gold as the youngest rostered player at 17 years old.
Coming from River Falls, Wisconsin, Rowe joins the Badgers after captaining the St. Croix Valley Fusion, leading the team in scoring for her final season with 67 points in 26 games. Named to the GWHCA All-State first team and recieving the Molly Engstrom Award for the state's top female defender, Rowe was also named the Big Rivers Conference Player of the Year in 2015. Earning first-team all-state and state tournament second-team accolades with the Fusion, Rowe also skated at three USA Hockey National Player Development Camps in 2012, 2013, and 2014. Rowe also participated in the 2015 USA Hockey U-18 Top 66 Camp.
The Badgers open their 2016-17 season this weekend at St. Cloud State. Faceoff tomorrow is set for 6 p.m. (CT), while the series finale is on Saturday at 3 p.m. (CT). Â
