Badger honored for outstanding senior season
MADISON, Wis. – Chris Mueller is still being recognized for what was an incredible cap to an even more incredible career. The Badgers' senior was named to the College Soccer News All-America First Team and the Top Drawer Soccer Best XI First Team.
He was also recognized as one of the seven "Most Technical and Entertaining Players" by College Soccer News.  Mueller was described as, "An exceptional talent who will be leaving Wisconsin as one of the programs best ever players. The Big Ten Offensive Player of the Year is as technically sound as they get in the college game. What stands out when you watch Mueller play is not just his technical ability but more importantly his fearlessness in possession of the ball. Mueller had eight goals, 11 assists, and 27 points in 2016. He also recorded nine goals, 20 assists, and 38 points during the 2017 season. He's a natural playmaker and one of the far more underrated players in this year's draft, Mueller will look to bring his brand of exciting soccer to a city near you."
Mueller has assembled quite the list of honors over his four-year career with the Wisconsin men's soccer team. He's a two-time All-American, two-time All-Region honoree, a two-time All-Big Ten First Team member, and a Big Ten Offensive Player of the Year award winner.
Not only did Mueller become the first in program history to earn second-team All-America honors, he also became the first two-time All-American in UW annals.
Starting 21 games for the Badgers this past season, Mueller led the nation in both assists (20) and assists-per-game (.95). The Schaumburg, Illinois native led the Big Ten in points (38), while also leading the league in shots (72) and shots on goal (30).
The 2017 Big Ten Offensive Player of the Year finished eighth all-time in career goal scoring (22) at Wisconsin and set the school record for assists in a season (19), a record that stood since 1981. With 35 career assists, Mueller finished just four shy of UW legend Kevin Kullby's all-time career record. Mueller ranks fourth in school history in career points (79) and finished third all-time in career shots (182).
