Questions Answered
Who improved? Who stood out? When looking for a breakdown of the Badgers' offense and defense after 15 spring practices, there's no better source than the players on the other side of the ball that went head to head with them all spring.
Who had the best spring on offense? Who jumped out on that side of the ball? "That's a good question, actually," Alec James admitted. Who better to answer the question than someone on the other side of the ball? James, a defensive lineman, was more than willing to offer a first take. "I would say a lot of the receivers," observed James, a fifth-year senior. "It seems like as a core group they've gotten a lot better this spring, even with Rob leaving. That stood out to me." Who stood out this spring on defense?
A number of UW's defensive players wowed their teammates on offense
The question to Wisconsin junior offensive lineman Michael Deiter provoked a lively, instantaneous response. Looking across the line of scrimmage, is there a defensive player for the Badgers who really made an impression on you during spring drills? "Isaiahh Loudermilk," Deiter said emphatically. Loudermilk is a 6-foot-7, 296-pound redshirt freshman end from Howard, Kansas. He spent 15 spring practice sessions impressing observers with his athleticism, awareness and technique. Deiter is a versatile two-year starter at center and left guard who saw a lot of Loudermilk during spring practices that ended last week. Read more ...

Joy and Tenacity
Qualifying for nationals is not only a goal of women's openweight rowing. It's a yearly expectation. And the Badgers are racing swiftly towards a projected 10th consecutive appearance and spot on the podium.
Wisconsin women's openweight crew coach Bebe Bryans recently sent her rowers an interesting YouTube video. It starred a real-life badger methodically, single-handedly burying a small cow's carcass for safe keeping. The project required five 24-hour days, but it got finished without issue or fanfare. The message? "That's us," Bryans said. "We're just going to work and work and work and get the job done." And when it's complete? "Next," Bryans declared with a smile. That's where the 10th-ranked Badgers are with regards to their competitive to-do list this season. Read more ...

Biegel, Ogunbowale ready… and waiting
Badgers' captains preparing to see professional dreams realized in NFL
Although one plays on offense, the other on defense, running back Dare Ogunbowale and outside linebacker Vince Biegel got asked the same thing more than once during their pre-draft interview sessions with National Football League scouts, personnel directors and assistant coaches. "Do I love football?" posed Ogunbowale, reciting the question. "That's a big thing." "It did come up," Biegel conceded. "That's frequently asked." As part of the process, Ogunbowale said, "I think they liked getting to know me as a player." Read more ...

Badgering: Chloe Miller
Senior catcher Chloe Miller shares her thoughts on her memorable recruiting visit, her gift for the game and what she'd do if she were Wisconsin athletic director for a day.
Senior catcher Chloe Miller has her fingerprints all over the Wisconsin softball record book. At various junctures she's led the Badgers in home runs, triples, doubles, slugging percentage, runs batted in, hit by pitch and total bases. She's currently on pace to lead UW in batting average (.440), slugging (.800), on-base percentage (.542) as well as hits (55) and runs (41). Earlier this season Miller, from Bettendorf, Iowa, became the second UW player in history to be named national player of the week.
