MADISON, Wis. — Excelling both on the court and in the classroom this past season, Matt Ferris and Aaron Moesch were recognized by the National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) on Tuesday, as each was named to the 2016-17 NABC Honors Court.

The NABC Honors Court recognizes the talent men's collegiate basketball student-athletes showcase off the court and the hard work they display in the classroom. In order to be named to the Honors Court, student-athletes must meet a high standard of academic criteria, which includes a cumulative grade-point average of 3.2 or higher.

A redshirt senior from Green Bay, Moesch played in 18 games last season and has appeared in 48 contests over the course of his collegiate career. A two-time Academic All-Big Ten honoree, Moesch is enrolled in the prestigious Wisconsin School of Business pursuing a degree in finance.

Ferris is a native of Appleton and is also enrolled in the Wisconsin School of Business studying finance. Recognized twice as an Academic All-Big Ten honoree, Ferris has appeared in 20 career games for the Badgers, including 11 this past season.

Located in Kansas City, Missouri, the NABC was founded in 1927 by Phog Allen, the legendary basketball coach at the University of Kansas. Allen, a student of James Naismith, the inventor of basketball, organized coaches into this collective group to serve as Guardians of the Game. The NABC currently has nearly 5,000 members consisting primarily of university and college men's basketball coaches.
