Breaking the ice … with Wyatt Kalynuk
September 14, 2017 | Men's Hockey
MADISON, Wis. -- With the 2017-18 Wisconsin men's hockey season right around the corner, UWBadgers.com goes beyond what fans will see on the ice this season to introduce the eight newest members of the Badgers' incoming class by exploring their personalities, likes and dislikes.
Next up in this year's series is defenseman Wyatt Kalynuk.
Kalynuk, a Virden, Manitoba native, skated with the Bloomington Thunder (USHL) for the past two seasons. With six goals and 25 assists, he paced the team's defenders during the 2016-17 season and was named to the All-USHL Third Team. In 2015-16, the blueliner helped the Thunder reach the playoff with three goals and 24 points. Kalynuk, who was selected in the seventh round of the 2017 NHL Entry Draft by Philadelphia, also played in five games for Canada in the World Under-17 Hockey Challenge in 2014.
Kalynuk will wear No. 2 for a jersey number, joining a list that includes Garry Bunz, Bob Suter, Kyle Klubertanz and Jamie McBain as players to have worn No. 2.
