International competitor brings diving talents to UW
MADISON, Wis. – The Wisconsin swimming and diving program has added international talent to its 2018-19 season.
The Badgers roster was recently rounded out with the signing of diver Tereza Vithoulkas, a three-time competitor for Team Quebec and two-time participant for Team Canada's junior national team.
"We are thrilled to welcome Tereza to Wisconsin," diving coach Anton Slobounov said. "She has represented her country as a junior national team member and brings outstanding experience on the international stage, something that will definitely benefit her in college competition."
Vithoulkas joins the Badgers fresh off podium-worthy performances at the Camo Invitation International. From a gold medal performance on platform to a gold medal synchronized tower showing, Vithoulkas' diving pedigree is unmistakable.
"We're certainly excited to see her dive for the Badgers this spring," Slobounov said, "and I'm especially excited to see her training platform in our new facility at the Nicholas Recreation Center, because she has a very bright future."
After participating in the 2016 Canadian Olympic Trials on the 10-meter platform, Vithoulkas is primed to compete – and is eager to do so in Badger red.
"The team spirit that welcomed me during my visit made my decision easy," Vithoulkas said. "The kind words and optimistic faces showed me what true Badger spirit looked like."
Vithoulkas is expected to join the UW diving contingent in competition for the spring semester. In the meantime, you can catch the Montreal native enjoying all that Madison has to offer.
"I can see Wisconsin becoming my home away from home and I cannot await the future that lies ahead," she said.
