
Nelson, Tysoe named Big Ten Swimmer of the Week

Wisconsin juniors Beata Nelson and Cameron Tysoe sweep Big Ten weekly honors
MADISON, Wis. – Following outstanding performances last Friday against Minnesota, Wisconsin juniors Beata Nelson and Cameron Tysoe have each been named Big Ten Swimmer of the Week.
Nelson led the No. 20-ranked Wisconsin women to a team victory over No. 13 Minnesota, 157-143, by winning all four of her events on the night.
The Madison native recorded Big Ten-leading times and NCAA qualifying marks in the 100-yard backstroke (52.57) and 200 backstroke (1:54.76), ranking third nationally in both.
Helping the Badgers claim victory in the 200-yard medley relay, Nelson also anchored the winning effort in the 400 freestyle relay with a split of 48.98.
Tysoe notched three victories on the night, helping the Badgers men upset the No. 18 Gophers, 170-130.
In winning the 200 backstroke, Tysoe recorded the Big Ten's fastest time this season (1:46.75), which ranks him seventh nationally.
Tysoe also ranks sixth in the Big Ten based on his winning time in the 200 freestyle (1:39.02).
The Canberra, Australia, product also helped his 400 freestyle relay squad to a win in 3:00.97.
