Junior nabs second Big Ten Defensive Player of the Week honor
MADISON, Wis. – He's at it again. Wisconsin goalkeeper Dean Cowdroy picked up his second Big Ten Conference Defensive Player of the Week honor of the season after another great weekend of conference play.
On Friday night against No. 18 Michigan, the junior posted yet another shutout on the year, notching his sixth of the season. Cowdroy protected the Badger net against a Michigan onslaught tallying four saves on the night. He stood tall and organized the Badger back line, especially in the second half, as Michigan put up 10 shots in the period.
Cowdroy boasts a 0.93 GAA in over 1350 minutes of play, 49 saves, and a .778 save percentage. He has started 14 games in the Badgers' net this season.
This is Cowdroy's second weekly honor after tabbing the award on Oct.2 following a stellar performance with two shutouts and an upset over then top-five and undefeated Michigan State.
