MADISON, Wis. – After a three-week hiatus from competition, the Wisconsin swimming and diving team hits the road Friday for a tri-meet against Tennessee and Purdue. Before Friday's 12:30 p.m. (CT) start, here are five things you should know.

1. MAKING MOVES: The Badgers will enter competition with rising recognition in the CSCAA Top 25 Poll. The Wisconsin women's team (2-0) moved up six slots to No. 14, while the men's team (2-0) received its first ranking of the season at No. 24.

"I think the rankings are a reflection of the work that the athletes have been putting in," head coach Yuri Suguiyama said. "We've done a good job staying in the moment while also maximizing our training and racing this fall."

2. BIG TEN BUSTLERS: For their exceptional performances against the Gophers, juniors Beata Nelson and Cameron Tysoe were each named Big Ten Swimmer of the Week.

"Cam [Tysoe] and Beata [Nelson] are two of our most consistent swimmers," Suguiyama said. "It is always good to see two athletes being rewarded for their hard work."

The Nelson-Tysoe tandem will be in full display this Friday, as the two look to help their teams to victory.

3. TOOMEY TIME: Border Battle bragging rights aren't the only thing Wisconsin has retrieved from Minnesota this season. Former Gopher – and Big Ten champion – Derek Toomey has joined the team as a volunteer assistant coach, the Badgers announced last week.

Toomey, a Madison native and sprint freestyle specialist, looks to make an immediate impact on Wisconsin's sprinters and relay squads.

4. SCOUTING BOILERS, VOLS: For the Badgers, Friday's tri-meet offers an opportunity for development and a chance at redemption.

A season ago, UW's men fell to Tennessee, 261-91; as did the women, 204-149.

Tennessee and Purdue men's teams come in at No. 15 and No. 25, respectively, in the latest CSCAA Top 25. Tennessee's women sit at No. 24.

5. LIVE LOOK: Live results and live video coverage will be available Friday from West Lafayette (see links above). The meet will stream live via BTN Plus, which can be accessed both on the web at BTN2Go.com or via the BTN2Go mobile app.
