Ciskowski and Lauterbach sign national letters of intent
MADISON, Wis. -- Wisconsin women's golf head coach Todd Oehrlein announced Thursday that Nicole Ciskowski and Emily Lauterbach have signed National Letters of Intent to attend UW and play golf for the Badgers starting in the fall of 2019.
"We're extremely excited to welcome Emily and Nicole to our program," Oehrlein said. "Nicole has had an outstanding junior career and has a tremendous amount of experience. She's a very hard worker and her teams have had great success. Emily has been one of the most successful players in Wisconsin throughout her career. She's competing at a high level and has taken great strides in the past year. Both know how to win golf tournaments and will add strength to our team. In addition to their play, they are both excellent students and will be great Badgers."
Ciskowski, a native of Barrington, Illinois, attends Barrington High School, the same high school as current UW men's golfer, sophomore Tom Calbi. She qualified for the state tournament three times, placing seventh and earning all-state honors as a senior. Barrignton finished as state runners-up in each of her final three seasons. Â Ciskowski won the Class 2A Huntley sectional title as both a junior and senior, earning all-conference honors both seasons.
Ciskowski has played in 10 American Junior Golf Association events with four top-20 finishes. Her best finish was a tie for fourth place at the AJGA Junior at Forest Lake in 2017. She is a two-time Mid-American Junior Golf Tour champion, winning the Autumn Open in 2016 and the Heritage Bluffs Open in 2017. Ciskowski also won the Hurricane Junior Golf Tour event at Purdue's Kampen Course last spring.
Lauterbach, a native of Hartland, Wis., who attends Arrowhead High School, was named the Golf Coaches Association of Wisconsin Player of the Year as both of a sophomore and senior. She won the Wisconsin State High School championship as a sophomore and finished third as junior, leading Arrowhead to team state titles in both seasons. This year Lauterbach, whose season average was a 70, finished as the runner-up at the state tournament.
Lauterbach has also found success in junior golf, winning the AJGA's WinCraft/McArthur Towel & Sports Future Legends Championship at The Legend at Brandybrook GC this past summer. She also qualified for the 2018 US Women's Amateur Championship and won the MAJGT Championship at Geneva National. Checking in at No. 129 in the latest Rolex Rankings, Lauterbach was the Long Drive champion at the 2015 Drive, Chip and Putt Championship at Augusta National Golf Course.
Both Ciskowski and Lauterbach are members of the National Honor Society.
