Drake's Take: The Best of 2018

Drake reflects on the Badgers' great year
Hey Badger fans, hope you all enjoyed the last pair of home games of 2018 against Syracuse.
Â
This weekend we will be traveling to St. Cloud State University to take on the Huskies. We hope to finish off the 2018 year with success.
Â
With the year coming to a close, this week we will reminisce on some of the best moments of 2018.
Â
Many Badger's had a similar moment that stuck out to them this year. Senior Annie Pankowski touched on our Friendsgiving the Posick family was kind enough to host at their home.
Â
"My favorite memory of this year would be Friendsgiving at Posicks," Pankowski said. "That gave us a family feel being so far from home. Or when Dan put the Philadelphia Flyers mascot Gritty at video for the week."
Â
I would have to agree with Annie that Friendsgiving was one of my favorite days of the year. Our entire team in one place enjoying a home cooked meal was something special. We also were lucky enough to receive a performance from Britta Curl, Alexis Mauerman, and Maddie Posick on the piano. That day was something I'll look back on in the future.
Â
For freshman forward Britta Curl one of her favorite moments was a tradition that happens at the beginning of each season - a little prank on the freshmen class.
Â
"My favorite moment of 2018 was when the whole team tricked the freshmen into getting bagged at the end of practice," said Curl.
Â
It's been a remarkable year in Madison for Wisconsin women's hockey. Head coach Mark Johnson became the winningest coach in NCAA women's college hockey. Senior Emily Clark won an Olympic silver medal. Also, assistant coach Jackie Crum's daughter, Riley, was born.Â
Â
This year was truly something special, and we hope to make 2019 equally as special (hopefully with some shiny hardware at the end). Thank you to the fans for another great year at LaBahn. We hope to cap off 2018 on the ice with two more wins against St. Cloud State this weekend. Both games this weekend can be seen live on Fox Sports Wisconsin.
Â
Wishing everyone joyful Holidays and a Happy New Year!
Â
See you all next year!
As Always, On Wisconsin
