Badgers travel to South Carolina to start spring break
MADISON, Wis. —  The Wisconsin women's golf team will compete in Sunset, South Carolina for its fourth event this spring, competing at the Clemson Invitational, March 23-25, at The Reserve at Lake Keowee.Â
Here are five things to know before the invitational:
1. Last time out:  The Badgers battled it out south of the border this past weekend, grabbing third place at the Hawkeye-El Tigre Invitational in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico. Senior Lexi Harkins led Wisconsin with an even-par total of 216, earning a share of the second place individual title.Â
2. Carolina Sunset: Wisconsin visits The Reserve of Lake Keowee in Sunset, South Carolina this weekend. A stunning course that features views of the Blue Ridge Mountains and greens along the waters of Lake Keowee. The 7,112 yard course opened in 2002 and was designed by golf legend, Jack Nicklaus.
3. The Furious Five: The Badgers will travel the experienced starting five lineup of seniors Gabby Curtis, Lexi Harkins, Aya Johnson, Becky Klongland, and junior Jessica Reinecke to South Carolina this coming weekend. That group continues its streak of playing in every match of the 2017-18 season together.Â
4. Spring Break Competition:  The Badgers will face top competition in South Carolina over their spring break. Wisconsin takes on Clemson, Florida State, Vanderbilt, Purdue, Texas A&M, UNC-Wilmington, Indiana, Tulane, Oklahoma, Michigan State, Tennessee, Harvard and Ohio State.
5. Thoughts from Coach Oehrlein:Â
"Mexico was a challenging set-up and I'm confident that it will help prepare us moving forward."
"We're excited about the opportunity in front of us at Clemson. It's a new event for us, so we'll need a great practice round to familiarize ourselves with the golf course. It's an extremely strong field and the golf course looks outstanding."
