Wisconsin goes 4-1 at USF Under Armour Invitational
CLEARWATER, Fla. – The Wisconsin softball team ended the USF Under Armour invitational with a bang, shutting out Wright State 12-0 in five innings Sunday morning. On the weekend the Badgers were 4-1 to improve to 11-8 this season.

A six-run second inning helped set the tone early. The first four Badger hitters were walked for the first score of the inning. Senior Kelsey Jenkins doubled to right with the bases loaded for two RBI. Gabby Scherle grounded out but sent Welsh home for the fourth run of the inning. Brooke Wyderski kept the inning alive with a single up the middle to send Jenkins home. UW scored its sixth run when Samantha Arents hit a sacrifice grounder that scored Wyderski.

In the third inning Jenkins sent one out of the park for a 3-RBI home run. Freshman Taylor Johnson followed suit in the fourth inning, hitting her second homer of the year while also scoring Cross who had reached on a walk.

The Badgers got on the board when a Wyderski double to right field sent Jenkins home in the first inning.

The Badgers compete in their last preseason tournament next weekend, traveling to Tucson, Arizona for the Wildcat Invitational. On Friday, UW matches up with USC-Upstate and Arizona. The Badgers play Arizona again on Sunday before taking on South Dakota. They wrap up tournament play on Sunday with a game against San Diego.

Notes to know
- Senior Kelsey Jenkins led all players with three runs, five RBIÂ and reached base in each of her three plate appearances.
- UW outhit Wright State 6-1. Jenkins and Wyderski both tallied two hits apiece.
- Freshman Haley Hestekin picked up her third win of the weekend in the circle. Junior Angela Morrow pitched the last two innings in relief. Combined, the two struck out four batters with no walks given up and only gave up one hit.
