Wisconsin finishes eighth at Kepler Intercollegiate

Barela leads Badgers with top-25 finish
COLUMBUS, Ohio. -- Led by steady play from freshman Griffin Barela, the Wisconsin men's golf team snagged eight place on Sunday at the Robert Kepler Intercollegiate in Columbus, Ohio.
Barela's strong performance netted him a top 25 finish, earning a share of 23rd place. A strong 72 opening round helped Barela finish the weekend with a 220 (+7) for the tournament.

Wisconsin muscled out Miami (Ohio) for the eight place spot, shooting one stroke better, 886 (+34) on the weekend.Â

Freshman Sam Anderson and sophomore Pete Kuhl also finished in the top 40. Anderson shot a 223 (+10) to tie for 34th place. Kuhl finished in a tie for 39th place with a 224 (+11).

Purdue took first place out of 16 teams shooting a 849 (-3), six strokes ahead of second place Illinois.
