Badgers seek conference title in Baltimore
MADISON, Wis. —  The Wisconsin men's golf team travels to Baltimore, Maryland to battle conference rivals at the Big Ten Championships, April 27-29, in the Badgers' last regular season event of the 2017-18 season.Â
Here are five things to know before the Badgers tee off:
1. Last Time Out: Led by consistent play from freshman Griffin Barela, the Badgers grabbed eighth place on Sunday at the Robert Kepler Intercollegiate in Columbus, Ohio. Barela's strong performance earned him a share of 23rd place individually.Â
2. Championship Weekend: UW travels to Baltimore, Maryland for the Big Ten Championships at the Baltimore Country Club. The club was founded in 1898 and has hosted a Men's U.S. Open, a Men's U.S. Amateur, a U.S. Walker Cup and a PGA Championship. This weekend will play a crucial factor in determining Wisconsin's postseason chances.Â
3. The Lineup: The Badgers will travel the same lineup as was featured at last week's Robert Kepler intercollegiate in Columbus, Ohio. The crew will include junior Jordan Hahn, sophomore Pete Kuhl, senior Eddie Wajda and freshmen Barela and Sam Anderson.
4. B1G Competition: The Badgers take on No. 35 Northwestern, Michigan State, No. 13 Illinois, No. 42 Purdue, Ohio State, Indiana, No. 40 Penn State, Maryland, Michigan, Nebraska, Minnesota, Iowa and Rutgers.Â
5. Thoughts from Coach Burcin:Â
"We look forward to taking the same group to Baltimore that played at Ohio State. Baltimore Country Club is a major championship venue and it will provide a great test. With three guys who have seen the course, we hope that will bring some familiarity. The guys are excited to get going and we are really looking forward to having a great week and we will see where we stand on Sunday night."
