MADISON, Wis. – The Badgers are back in action in Madison this weekend, as the Wisconsin track and field team is set to host the Wisconsin Twilight on Friday. The meet, which features UNI, Illinois State, Marquette and Loyola of Chicago starts at 2 p.m. with the throwing events. Running events begin at 5:30 p.m. at the McClimon Track and admission is free. Parking is available for fans in Lot 60 and Lot 76 for 10 dollars.

1. RELAY RECORDS: It's been a long time coming for a break in these records. The 4x100 and 4x400 relay teams have been steadily creeping up on the top UW times in history for much of the season and last weekend in Arkansas both quartets broke school records.. The 4x100 team of Gabby DesRosiers, Ebony McClendon, Meagan Blair and Brenna Detra broke a record that stood for 33 years. While Bianca Stubler, Detra, DesRosiers, and Haley Lubow represented in the 4x400 relay and cracked a record that was set in 1992.

2. STEEPLE SUCCESS: While at the National Relays, two distance powerhouses swept the 3000 Steeplechase event. Alissa Niggemann and Erin Wagner picked up a 1-2 finish in the event, Niggemann earning her first win as a Badger. The two athletes also rank on the UW top-10 list in the 3000 Steeplechase.

3. HOME IS WHERE BUCKY IS: Looking at last year, the Badger squad picked up several top performances during their last outdoor appearance in Madison. A dynamic pole vault trio swept the podium with Taylor Amann claiming the top stop, Chinne Okoronkwo and Jane McCurry following behind in second and third. On the track, Ebony McClendon claimed victory in the 200 meters while Erin Wagner took home the W in the 3000-meter steeplechase. Haley Showalter rounded out the action with a win in the hammer throw while a team of then freshmen, Emma Fitzgerald and Phoebe Edwards earned the top finishes in the 100 hurdles.

4. SENIOR SEND-OFF: Bucky and the Wisconsin track and field program will honor 22 seniors on Friday for their outstanding successes and various accolades during their careers representing UW.

5. BRING ON BIG TENS: Up next for the Badgers is the championship season which begins with the 2018 Big Ten Outdoor Championships in Bloomington, Indiana next weekend. As the Badgers gear up for the championship season, the team has 15 athletes that hold times and marks that rank in the top-10 in the conference across various events including No.1 spots held by Taylor Amann in the pole vault and Georgia Ellenwood in the heptathlon.
