Jenkins' two RBI seals senior day victory
MADISON, Wis. – In its last regular series of the season, the Badgers clinched a 4-3 win over the Northwestern Wildcats on Sunday afternoon.
Â
Haley Hekestein started in the circle for Wisconsin, where she racked up five strikeouts and limited the Wildcats to just two hits in five innings of action.
Â
Although the Wildcats were able to strike first with a run in the top of the fourth, the Badgers brought the bats in the bottom of the fifth for a four-run inning. Stephanie Lombardo kicked things off with a single through the middle that was followed by a double from freshman Lauren Foster that tied the game. Jordan Little notched UW's third hit in a row to score the go-ahead run. Kelly Welsh singled to join Little on base and both were sent home when Kelsey Jenkins blasted a double to deep left for a 4-1 lead.
Â
Northwestern retaliated in the top of the sixth with a pair of runs, but Taylor Johnson shut them down with a game-winning double play to minimize the damage.
