Red vs. White scrimmage primes volleyball team for 2018 season

MADISON, Wis. – Great volleyball and valuable learning opportunities filled the UW Field house Saturday afternoon at the Wisconsin volleyball team's Red and White scrimmage.
The White team came out on top 25-23, 22-25, 25-22 with all three sets being decided by three points or less.
With just six days left until UW's first match of the 2018 season, outside hitters Grace Loberg and Molly Haggerty had impressive outings, collecting 15 and 14 kills, respectively.
Redshirt freshman Danielle Hart hit a team-best .421 (10 kills – 2 errors – 19 attempts) and added two blocks for the White team.
UW's liberos Tiffany Clark and M.E. Dodge each notched double-digit digs with Dodge saving a team-high 17 balls and Clark getting 13 ups.
Mallory Dixon set the White team to victory thanks to her team-high 37 assists and two service aces. Sydney Hilley set the Red team and had 32 assists, six kills and five digs.

Notes to know
- Redshirt sophomore Molly Haggerty played her first match in more than a year after redshirting 2017 due to back issues. The 6-1 outside hitter had 14 kills, five digs and two blocks, playing all three sets for the Red team.
- Redshirt freshman Danielle Hart also saw her first action in a year after taking a redshirt year in 2017. The 6-4 middle blocker had 10 kills and hit a team-best .421 (10-2-19). Hart also added two blocks.
- Junior Mallory Dixon put up 37 assists and had a team-high two service aces in running the White team.
- Today attendance was 1,591.

"I thought everybody kind of had their moments. I think they had a lot of fun, getting out there and playing. Whether we got more answers or more questions, I'm not sure I can tell you right now. I thought there was a lot of good stuff that was happening and some things that will allow us to go back and work on. The Badgers open the 2018 season at the Big Ten/ACC Challenge in Minneapolis. The tournament will be held in the Target Center, the site of the 2018 NCAA Championship. Wisconsin and Minnesota represent the Big Ten, taking on North Carolina and Florida State from the ACC. UW takes on North Carolina on Friday at 4:30 p.m. and Florida State at 4:30 p.m. on Saturday.
