Badgers fall to Oregon in first round of match play

Johnson grabs sole victory in back and forth battle
Ann Arbor, MI. – The Wisconsin women's golf team fell, 4-1, in its first round matchup against No. 5 seed Oregon at the East-West Match Play Challenge in Ann Arbor, Michigan.
The eighth-seeded Badgers struggled throughout their first round matchup with the Ducks. Despite the tough sledding through most of their lineup, veteran Aya Johnson provided the lone bright spot for UW, battling back and forth for 18 holes to grab Wisconsin's sole victory.
Johnson was one down through the first 13 holes to Oregon's Heather Lin, but rallied to win two of the next three holes to propel her to victory.
Junior Bobbi Stricker also grabbed a win in her individual match against Michigan's Jacqueline Young, 5 & 4. Stricker moves on to the fifth-place matchup against Texas A&M's Chloe Velasco on Tuesday.
Up Next: The Badgers will take on Texas A&M in the seventh-place match on Tuesday.
