Badgers take on national competition in Norman
MADISON, Wis. —  The Wisconsin women's golf team travels south to Norman, Oklahoma for the Schooner Fall Classic, Sept. 28-30, at the Belmar Golf Club.
Here are five things to know before the team tees off:
1. Last time out:  Freshman Gabrielle Tomeo's 18th hole put in the second round propelled the Badgers over Texas A&M, 3-2, in the second round of the East-West Match Play Challenge in Ann Arbor, Michigan. As a team, Wisconsin finished seventh.Â
2. The Course: Belmar Golf Club was founded in 2002 and serves as a private golf club in Norman, Oklahoma. The course was designed by golf architect Tripp Davis. The course features native grasses, multiple elevation changes, and untouched scenery of central Oklahoma farmland.
3. The Five: The Badgers will travel Aya Johnson, senior Jessica Reinecke, senior Tess Hackworthy, sophomore Mackenzie Hahn and freshman Tracy Lee.
4. The Competition:  The Badgers will face Oklahoma (Host), Alabama, Baylor, Clemson, Florida State, Miami, Mississippi State, New Mexico, Notre Dame, Oregon, Texas, Texas A&M, Texas State and UNC-Wilmington.
5. Thoughts from Coach Oehrlein:Â
"We have an opportunity to move forward and get some excellent head-to-head wins that will help a lot as we move through the season. It's a great opportunity for us."Â
"As a team, we'll need to take advantage of the par 5's more than we did in Michigan."Â
"Overall, we know that we need to drive it better in order to stay in better position throughout the golf course. Everything becomes easier from the fairway."
