Wisconsin heads to Ann Arbor for two-day meet
ANN ARBOR, Mich. – Following the Indiana Relays, where the Badgers earned two individual wins and a new school record, the Wisconsin men's track and field team will hit the road and head to the University of Michigan for the Power Five Invitational this weekend.
The Power Five Invitational is scheduled to start on Friday, February 1 at 12 p.m. (C.T.) with the combined events and track events to follow at 4 p.m. Saturday's events will start with the combined events at 9:30 a.m. with the field events to follow at 11 a.m.

1. INDIANA RELAYS RECAP: The younger Badgers showed their stuff at the Indiana Relays, led by freshman Peyton Frankenreider who earned his first collegiate track and field win. The Yorkville, Illinois, native won the long jump with a mark of 23-4 3/4 to seal his win. Also performing well in the field events was junior Rashid Coulibaly, who matched his personal best pole-vault clearance of 17-2 3/4 to take fourth in the event.
The four Wisconsin athletes competing in the 3000 meters also performed well, with three earning personal bests. Olin Hacker finished fourth overall Hacker finished fourth overall with a personal best sub-eight minute time of 7:56.07, which currently ranks fourth in the country. Ben Eidenschink also earned a personal best in the event, crossing the line in 8:09.70 while Tyson Miehe came through with a time of 8:22.17.
2. HOARE SETS SCHOOL RECORD: In his indoor season debut, junior Olli Hoare delivered a huge performance in the 3000 meters and becoming just the second Badger to run the 3K under 7:50. The Sydney, Australia, native smashed the school record with a personal best and NCAA-leading time of 7 minutes, 48.81 seconds. Hoare's time is the fastest by an Australian this year and also currently ranks No. 8 in the world.
In addition, the four-time All-American was recognized for his effort on the track, and was named the Big Ten Track Athlete of the Week for the first time this season and the second time in his career.
3. SENIOR CAPTAINS: The Badgers announced the three seniors who will serve as captains for the men's squad for the 2019 season. Corbin Ellis, Morgan McDonald and Trent Nytes have all made their mark on the Wisconsin track and field program during their time at UW and will all help lead the team this season.
4. SCOPING IT OUT: This weekend's Power Five Invitational will serve as a preview for the 2019 Big Ten Indoor Championships, as the University of Michigan is set to host the championships later this month. The 2019 Big Ten Indoor Championships are scheduled to take place from Friday, February 22 through Saturday, February 23 at the newly renovated U-M Indoor Track Building.
5. UP NEXT: After the Power Five Invitational, the Badgers will compete at the Iowa State Classic in Ames, and will also send athletes to the prestigious Millrose Games in New York, N.Y. The Iowa State Classic will run from Friday, February 8 through Saturday, February 9 while the Millrose Games will also take place on February 9.
