Rettke, Hilley honored by Big Ten

Badgers named Player of the Week, Setter of the Week
MADISON, Wis. – For the second-straight week, the sixth-ranked Wisconsin volleyball team has picked up awards from the Big Ten Conference.
On Monday, junior Dana Rettke was named the Big Ten Player of the Week, her second award of the season and sixth of her career as well as the second straight for UW. Junior Sydney Hilley was named the Big Ten Setter of the Week for the second straight week after also being named Player of the Week on Oct. 7. It is Hilley's third Setter of the Week honor of the season and the seventh of her career.
Rettke averaged a team-best 4.17 kills per set on the week, leading UW to wins over Northwestern and No. 6 Minnesota. The 6-foot-8 middle blocker had a match-high 16 kills vs. the Golden Gophers and added nine kills against the Wildcats. With her final kill of the match at Northwestern, Rettke became the 23rd Badger to record 1,000 kills in a career. She shared match-high honors with Hilley with five blocks at Northwestern and also added a match-high two service aces.
Hilley set the Badgers to two wins, including their fourth win over a ranked opponent, and a .329 attack percentage on the week. The Badgers hit .398 at Northwestern, their second-highest hitting percentage of the season. Â The 6-foot setter averaged 14.0 assists per set while adding 1.0 blocks per set. Hilley shared match-high honors with Rettke, stopping five blocks at Northwestern.
No. 6 Wisconsin (10-4, 6-0 B1G) wraps up the toughest part of its schedule with its fourth ranked team in the last five matches. The Badgers host No. 17 Illinois (9-6, 4-2) on Friday at 8 p.m. live on Big Ten Network. UW takes on Northwestern (9-9, 0-6) for the second time in 10 days when the Wildcats come to town on Saturday at 7 p.m.
