Rhodes and Murtha score as UW ends Big Ten play undefeated
MADISON Wis. – Competing in their last regular season game, the No. 7 Wisconsin women's soccer team (14-2-2, 10-0-1) downed the Ohio State Buckeyes (4-10-4, 2-6-3) 2-1 at McClimon Soccer Complex this Wednesday afternoon.
Wisconsin completed the Big Ten season with an undefeated season, marking the first time since 2012 that a Big Ten team has gone undefeated in league play
Cameron Murtha scored the first goal of the game in the ninth minute off of a header from a perfect corner kick sent by Lauren Rice. This marks Rice's fifth assist this season. Within the same minute, Ohio State struck back and evened the game.
Wisconsin built a 2-1 lead seven minutes later on a goal from Dani Rhodes, her 11th of the season. Rhode's unassisted goal was off a ball she fired into the top left corner of the net.
UW outshot Ohio State 12-7 and had five corners while the Buckeyes had one.
