UW closes out 2019 at Penn State with a loss
UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. - The Wisconsin Badgers men's soccer team saw their 2019 season come to an end when they fell 3-0 at Penn State in the quarterfinals of the Big Ten tournament on Sunday.
After defeating Ohio State in the final regular-season game, No. 7-seed Wisconsin (3-11-4, 1-4-3 Big Ten) was ready to make a statement in the Big Ten tournament, starting with second-seeded Penn State (12-2-3, 6-1-1 Big Ten). Unfortunately, UW's run came to an end sooner than they wanted after a second-half offensive outburst by Penn State.
The first 45 minutes of the game started out slow for both teams. The Lions out-shot the Badgers 4-2. Those two shots for UW came from Noah Leibold and Inaki Iribarren. Despite the efforts, both teams were scoreless at the half.

The pace of the game started to pick up in the second half, but sadly not in favor of the Badgers. In the 58th minute, the Lions scored in the lower left corner of Wisconsin's goal, putting them up 1-0. Shortly after, Penn State would double their lead by scoring on a header in the 62nd minute of the match. The UW offense made effort to find the back of the Lions net and recorded four shots in the second half from the feet of Andrew Akindele, Noah Leibold, Matthew Comiskey and Duncan Storey, but the Badger offense failed to score on the Penn State defense. In the 85th minute, the Lions pushed their lead by one more goal, securing the 3-0 win..Badgers and Lions are tied at the half. pic.twitter.com/OfVZ82coX1
