Badgers’ NCAA run ends in Sweet 16

UW falls 2-0 at UCLA
LOS ANGELES – The No. 10 Wisconsin women's soccer team saw its 2019 campaign draw to a close in the NCAA Sweet 16 as UW fell 2-0 to No. 2 UCLA on Sunday night at Wallis Annenberg Stadium.
The 2019 Big Ten Champions Badgers (16-4-2) held the Bruins in check in the first half as UCLA outshot UW 5-1, but the Badgers had a 4-1 advantage in corner kicks.
However, UCLA scored twice in the first seven minutes of the second half to build a two-goal lead on the Badgers as Mia Fishel and Viviana Villacorta scored for the hosts.
Big Ten Goalkeeper of the Year Jordyn Bloomer made a career high seven saves in the setback.

- This marked the second-straight year the Badgers reached the Sweet 16 in the NCAA tournament, marking the first time in school history UW reached the round of 16 in consecutive years
- Sunday marked the final game for seniors Camryn Biegalski, Dani Rhodes, Payton Wesley, and Allie Winterfield. The group became the first senior class since the 1996 group to qualify for the NCAA tournament in each of their four years.
- Rhodes leaves Wisconsin as the No. 4 goal scorer with 38 career tallies while the 2019 Big Ten Forward of the Year's 87 points rank fifth.
- Wisconsin ends the 2019 season with 16 wins, which ranks for the third-most wins in school history. UW's winning percentage of .773 is also a top-10 mark in school history.
