NASSAU, Bahamas- Wisconsin claimed the win against Ball State in its first game of the 2019 Bahamas Hoopfest on Friday.
The Badgers defeated the Cardinals 67-56, with a close start before the Badgers outscored the Cardinals by 13 points in the remainder of the game.
Senior
Abby Laszewski led the team in scoring with 16 points.
Sydney Hilliard and
Imani Lewis both scored 13 points each, with Hilliard shooting an impressive 75 percent from the floor and Lewis leading the team in rebounds with eight. Laszewski was second up in rebounds with seven.
Most notable were three Badgers who shot 100 percent from the free-throw line.
Tara Stauffacher went four-for-four, Niya Beverly three-for-three and
Kendra Van Leeuwen two-for-two. Van Leeuwen also had five assists.
Junior Oshlynn Brown led Ball State in scoring and rebounding with 18 points and eight rebounds. The Cardinals had three other players scoring double digits.Â
