Record-setting win

At 12-0 in the B1G, Badgers have a new program record start

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. – The 4th-ranked Wisconsin volleyball team made history on Sunday afternoon, sweeping Indiana to get its twelfth consecutive win to start B1G play. The Badgers (16-4 overall, 12-0 B1G) blew past the Hoosiers (12-13, 1-11) in dominating fashion, taking the match 25-18, 25-12, 25-17.

Wisconsin once again controlled the match on both sides of the net. The offense rolled as efficiently as expected, hitting .337 (42 kills – 9 errors – 98 attempts) while the defense stifled Indiana's attack, holding the Hoosiers to an opponent season-low .073 clip (27 – 19 – 109).

Two Badgers finished with double-digit kills, led by redshirt senior Madison Duello who hit a match-high .500 (11 – 1 – 20).  Redshirt junior Molly Haggerty added 10 kills on 33 attempts.

Senior libero Tiffany Clark and junior defensive specialist Lauren Barnes held down the back line, finishing with 20 and 11 digs, respectively, while junior middle blocker Dana Rettke provided the wall at the front, finishing with a match-high five blocks.

Straight from the Court

"The offense was great, but I felt even better about our defense. We got some blocks early and our back court, especially in the latter half of the match, was awfully good. They got, I think, three kills in the first set into the cross-court corner, and our back court made an adjustment off of that and started scrambling really well. Our positioning was good, but our effort was fantastic.

On program best 12-0 B1G start:

"That's good, we'd rather be the best start than the worst start, but starting 12-0 in league was never a goal we set for ourselves. I'm more excited about how we played, I thought we played better today than we did in our last match, and that's always good to see." – Head Coach Kelly Sheffield

"I think our blockers really showed up, starting in that first set and setting the tone. They got great touches and it was easy for the back court to make some digs." – Tiffany Clark

Notes to Know

  • The Badgers held Indiana to an opponent season-low .073 (27K-19E-109TA) hitting percentage. The Hoosiers also tallied an opponent season-low 27 kills.
