MADISON, Wis. – After leading the Badgers to the Big Ten regular-season title and a berth in the NCAA tournament, five Wisconsin women's soccer players earned United Soccer Coaches all-region honors on Monday.
The group of Camryn Biegalski, Jordyn Bloomer, Maia Cella and Dani Rhodes all earned All-North Region First Team honors while Cameron Murtha took home third-team accolades.
Wisconsin's four first-team all-region student-athletes were tied for the most in the country along with BYU, Stanford and North Carolina.
The Big Ten Defender of the Year, Biegalski started every game for the Badgers this year and was a huge key to the Badgers defense that allowed only 12 goals during the 2019 season. She also chipped in three assists during her senior campaign.
Bloomer, the Big Ten Goalkeeper of the Year, also started every game for the Badgers and had 12 shutouts, which ranked fourth in school history. In addition, her goals against average of 0.520 ranked sixth in school history.
Cella was a first-team All-Big Ten performer in the Badgers' midfield and was crucial to both the Wisconsin attack and defense. She also started in every game for UW during her junior season.
The Big Ten Forward of the Year, Rhodes scored 12 goals during her senior campaign, nine of which were game-winning efforts. Her nine game-winners not only led the Big Ten, but ranked third in the NCAA this season.
Murtha earned third-team All-Big Ten honors after posting six goals and four assists and 16 points for Wisconsin. She ranked second on the team in all three categories this year.
