Senior midfielder recognized on third team for academic achievement
MADISON, Wis. - Senior Noah Leibold has been named to the 2019 Academic All-America® Division I Men's Soccer team, as selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).
Named to the third team, the midfielder and captain boasts a 3.94 GPA as a neurobiology major during his time as a Badger. This award recognizes student-athletes for their outstanding work in academics and athletics.
Â
Leibold comes from Weisbaden, Germany and chose Wisconsin so he could work hard at soccer and his academics. He has been successful at both during his time here at UW.Â
Leibold started in 72 of his 73 matches played at Wisconsin and scored five goals and 16 points during his playing career. In his debut season as a Badger he was named to the Big Ten All-Freshmen Team and earlier this year received All-Big Ten preseason honors. He qualified for the Academic All-American award after getting named CoSIDA Academic All-District earlier this fall.
In addition to this award, Leibold also was announced as the Big Ten Sportsmanship Award winner for Wisconsin.
He plans to get into the medical field post graduation.Â
Leibold becomes the first Wisconsin men's soccer player named an Academic All-American since 2007 when Victor Diaz was a first-team honoree.
