Five things to know: Wisconsin back at home

UW welcomes Utah and Minnesota this weekend
MADISON, Wis. – Coming off a weekend in which the Badgers won one and lost one, the Wisconsin women's tennis team (7-1) returns home this weekend to host Utah on Friday, Feb. 22 at 5 p.m. CT and Minnesota on Sunday, Feb. 24 at 1 p.m. CT.
Admission is free for both matches at the Nielsen Tennis Stadium.
1. WEEKEND RECAP: Wisconsin took part in its first two road matches of the spring season last weekend, traveling to Denver to compete against the University of Denver and DePaul university Wisconsin suffered a 5-2 loss to Denver, with No. 35 senior Sara Castellano and freshman Ava Markham winning Wisconsin's two points. UW bounced back on Saturday, defeating DePaul 7-0.
2. SCOUTING UTAH: The Utes hold a 5-2 record on the season up to this point. Three of Utah's four wins have been 7-0 shutouts. Utah opened the season with a 4-0 loss to Texas A&M before suffering a setback to No. 17 NC State on the road.
3. SCOUTING MINNESOTA: Wisconsin will open up Big Ten competition by hosting the border-rival Minnesota on Sunday. The Golden Gophers currently hold a 5-3 record and are coming off back-to-back losses. Before competing against Wisconsin, Minnesota will take on Utah on Saturday, Feb. 23. Minnesota has three shutout victories on the season and opened the year with a loss to UCLA in Los Angeles.
4. HISTORY, HERSTORY: UW holds a 4-4 all-time record against Utah. The last time the programs met came in 2017 in Salt Lake City. UW was shutout 4-0. Wisconsin holds a 39-21 all-time series advantage over the Golden Gophers. The last time these programs met came last season in Minneapolis where Wisconsin suffered a 4-3 defeat.
5. WHO'S HOT: Senior Sara Castellano, ranked No. 35 in the nation in singles competition, remains undefeated on the season. The Carmagnola, Italy native holds an 8-0 mark and has defeated two top-100 ranked singles players in the dual season, and also holds a 4-2 overall record among ranked women. All eight of Castellano's wins in the spring season have been straight set victories.
