Badgers keep it rolling with win over Boilermakers

UW jumps to 5-0 after defeat of Purdue
MADISON, Wis. – Following a shutout over Michigan State, the Wisconsin women's tennis team returned to its home courts to host Purdue and got right back to work. The Badgers took down the Boilermakers 5-2 on Sunday.

Wisconsin (13-2 overall, 5-0 Big Ten) jumped out to an early 1-0 lead over Purdue (5-10, 0-4) after winning the doubles point with a 6-1 and a 6-2 win from UW's No. 2 and No. 3 doubles pairs.

Junior Melissa Pick got Wisconsin to two points with a 6-2, 6-2 win over Caitlin Calkins. Not long after, Wisconsin hit three points courtesy of a 6-4, 7-5 win from Anna Makarova over Seira Shimizu. The clinching point came from freshman Ava Markham, who defeated Purdue's Alex Sabe, 6-4, 6-3 to secure the victory.

Purdue got its first point when Ena Babic took down No. 77 sophomore Lexi Keberle, 6-3, 6-1. From there it was three straight singles victories to propel Wisconsin to four points.

Sophomore MaryAnn Rompf defeated Zala Dovnik, 6-4, 7-6 (3) to give UW its fifth point. No. 44 Sara Castellano fell to No. 33 Silvia Ambrosio to round out the match.
