Badgers take on conference rivals in the Queen City
MADISON, Wis. — The Wisconsin women's golf team competes at the Big Ten Championships, April 19-21, at TCP River's Bend in Maineville, Ohio.
Here are five things to know before UW tees off:
1. Last time out: Junior Tess Hackworthy was consistent all weekend at the Silverado Showdown on April 7-9, finishing the three-round tournament with a 73-73-75= 221 (+5) to earn a share of 11th place at the challenging North Course in Napa, California. It was her best career finish as a Badger.
2. The Nati: Wisconsin will take on its Big Ten rivals at TPC River's Bend, a private golf club located in Maineville, Ohio just outside of Cincinnati. Designed by legendary golfer Arnold Palmer in 2001, the course currently operates as a Tournament Players Club network operated by the PGA Tour. 2019 marks the third-consecutive year TPC River's Bend has hosted the Big Ten Championships
3. The Lineup: Seniors Nat Zeng and Jess Reinecke, junior Tess Hackworthy, sophomore Claire Fitzgerald and freshman Tracy Lee will represent Wisconsin. Junior Bobbi Stricker will play as an individual.
4. The Competition: Wisconsin takes on conference rivals Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Michigan, Michigan State, Maryland, Minnesota, Nebraska, Northwestern, Ohio State, Penn State, Purdue, Rutgers this weekend in Ohio.
5. Thoughts from Coach Oehrlein:
"This will be the 3rd year at TPC Rivers Bend, which is a great golf course. It's a demanding, championship setup and we'll need to drive the golf ball well."
"We've focused on our par 5 performance, and we will need to take advantage of the opportunities we have."
