IOWA CITY, Iowa-- The Wisconsin women's track and field team earned a pair of silver medals and a pair of bronze medals on the final day of the 2019 Big Ten Outdoor Track and Field Championships.
The women's 4x400 meter relay shined on Sunday with another record setting finish.
Haley Lubow,
Gabby DesRosiers,
Ebony McClendon and
Bianca Stubler set Wisconsin's school record in the event with a time of 3 minutes, 37.41 seconds en route to a second-place finish.
This is the second time this season this quartet rewrote Badger history as they set the previous school best at the Penn Relays last month. In addition, it marks the second time this year UW has earned a runner-up showing in the 4x400 relay after placing second at the 2019 Big Ten Indoor Track and Field Championships.
UW also shined in the 5000 meters as four Badgers were in the top-10 led by junior
Amy Davis, who finished second with a personal-best time of 15:56.86. Davis previously held the school's tenth best time but after today's run she moves up to ninth, passing Erica Palmer.
Shaelyn Sorensen took seventh in the long distance event with a time of 16:02.17, also a personal-best.
Alicia Monson and
Alissa Niggemann both finished in the top ten, taking ninth (16:09.35) and 10th (16:17.13) respectively.
In the discus event,
Hanna Barton finished with a bronze medal, her best career finish at the conference meet. The senior thrower recorded a mark of 172 feet, 1 inch in her final conference championship for the Badgers.
McClendon also earned a bronze in the 100 meters as the senior clocked as season-best time of 11.67.
The 4x100 relay, consisting of
Armoni Brown, DesRosiers, McClendon and
Meagan Blair took sixth in the event. They dashed to a time of 45.76 seconds, just shy of their season best of 45.71.
Blair's day continued in the triple jump, where she placed 11th with a mark of 39-2 1/2.

Assistant coach Kareem Jackson
On the 4x400 relay:
"I'm obviously really proud of them. They ran smart and they ran well, they ran composed. For us to be able to go back to back, indoors and outdoors, being Big Ten runner ups, I think is a huge accomplishment. It definitely says that we are going in the right direction moving forward. We have a legitimate chance to compete and win Big Ten titles."
Senior Hanna Barton
On finishing third in the Big Ten Conference:
"It's pretty amazing. It's something I've been saying all season is my goal was to get a medal and finish top three. So it is pretty incredible to say that I did that and compete against some of the best throwers in the country. I mean Laulauga (Tausaga) has a great throw. So to come out and compete, and show up is what we all strive for."
On consistency heading into regionals:
"It definitely gives me confidence. I've done a lot of work this season on what it takes to show up and center myself. It's amazing to see the work pay off and I'm excited for regionals, and then hopefully on to nationals."
Junior Amy Davis
On two successful races at the Big Tens:
"I think it feels nice to run the way I'm supposed to be running. Obviously, I'm not super duper happy with my 10,000 but fourth isn't bad in a race that was very competitive. We just had a lot of girls come out today and show what Wisconsin women are about, especially on the distance side, so that is exciting.
On Wisconsin's distance program:
"I think it is so cool. Obviously, I think Alissa coming from being a walk on and winning a Big Ten title for Jill is amazing. I feel like this program has been turning around. It is so cool to see how much motivation there is for people to want to be a part of the Wisconsin culture."
Up Next: The Badgers will take the track again when the NCAA West Preliminary Championships begin on Thursday, May 23, in Sacramento, California.
