MILAN, Italy – The Wisconsin volleyball team couldn't handle a tough-serving Italian Junior National team, falling to the Italians in four sets on Thursday afternoon. The Italians won 25-19, 26-28, 25-17, 25-23. The Badgers won a friendly fifth set 25-19.
The IJNT scored on 13 service aces, compared to only five for Wisconsin. Redshirt junior
Molly Haggerty led the Badgers at the service line with four aces.
Haggerty was also UW's top offensive threat, putting away 17 kills. Senior
Madison Duello added 10 kills while
Danielle Hart put away nine attacks.
Wisconsin did outblock Italy, 14-7, with six players recording four-or-more blocks. Junior
Nicole Shanahan led the Badgers with five stuffs while Duello, Hart,
Sydney Hilley,
Grace Loberg and
Dana Rettke all added four blocks.

Up Next
Wisconsin wraps up the competition portion of its European Tour on Friday afternoon when it again faces the Italian Junior National Team. The Badgers were scheduled to play Volleyro on Sunday while in Rome but the team cancelled the match after several of its players were called up to the Italian National Team.
