LOS ANGELES – The No. 22 Wisconsin women's soccer team battled tough against No. 5 UCLA but ultimately fell 1-0 on Saturday night at Wallis Annenberg Stadium.
The Badgers (4-2-1) had several chances in the first half of play as
Lauren Rice launched a pair of shots on net while senior
Dani Rhodes also had a great opportunity against the Bruins (5-1-0).
However, UCLA scored in the 51st minute as Kennedy Faulknor beat UW keeper
Jordyn Bloomer to put the Bruins up 1-0.
Bloomer kept the Badgers in the game in the second half as she made four clutch saves, but UW was unable to equalize.
Notes to Know:
- Wisconsin dominated play in the first half, outshooting UCLA 7-3, including a 3-1 advantage in shots on goal.
- For the 90 minutes, UCLA narrowly outshot UW 13-12 and had a 6-5 advantage on corner kicks.
- Saturday's match was UW's second match of the year against a top-five team as the Badgers also played then-No. 1 Florida State in August.
