Hackworthy named Big Ten Co-Golfer of the Week

Badger honored after first tournament win
MADISON, Wis.- Senior Tess Hackworthy was announced as the Big Ten Conference Co-Golfer of the Week, the league office announced on Wednesday.
The honor comes after a fantastic display from Hackworthy at the East-West Match Play Challenge on Monday and Tuesday at University Ridge.
On Monday, the redshirt senior from Madison shot career lows for 18 holes and 36 holes as she went two-under-par 70 in the first round and three-under-par 69 the second 18. She finished first overall with a five-under-par 139 for the stroke play portion of the tournament. Through the two rounds, she had 33 holes at par or better and only three bogeys. This was her first time finishing in first with the Badgers and her first top-10 finish as well. Hackworthy led the Badgers to the team championship for stroke play.
On Tuesday, Wisconsin faced Iowa State in match play. Hackworthy was the only Badger to defeat her opponent as she won 6-3 against Taglio Jeeravivitaporn.

Earlier in the season, Hackworthy was named a Big Ten Preseason Honoree and last season was named Academic All-Big Ten. This is her first time being named Big Ten Golfer of the Week and she is the first Badger since Jessica Reinecke was named on Feb.8, 2017.
