Badgers head to Cincinnati for Bearcat Invitational
MADISON, Wis.- The men's golf team is headed to Cincinnati for the Bearcat Invitational at the Coldstream Country Club on Monday-Tuesday.
Here are five things you need to know
1. The Team: The Badgers are bringing a five-man team to the tournament which will consist of redshirt junior Nick Robinson, juniors Sam Anderson and Griffin Barela, and freshmen Sebastian Iqbal and Coalter Smith.
2. The Field: Twelve teams will be participating in the Bearcat Invitational - Arkansas, Cincinnati, Illinois State, Kentucky, Lamar, Louisiana Tech, Louisville, Miami (OH), Middle Tennessee, Penn State, Wisconsin and Xavier.Â
3. The Format: The tournament will consist of 54 holes with 36 holes being played on Monday and 18 on Tuesday. Both days will be a shotgun starting at 8:30 a.m.
4. Flashback: The last time UW competed, it hosted the Badger Invitational at University Ridge on Sept. 8-10. Sam Anderson lead the team with a ninth-place finish. In that tournament, he shot career low 36- and 54- hole scores going five-under-par 139 through 36 and six-under-par 210 through 54.
5. Fun Fact: Nick Robinson and Griffin Barela recently qualified for the USGA 2020 U.S. Amateur Four-Ball after finishing with a three-under-par 69 at The Legend at Merrill Hills on Sept. 25. That will take place at the Brandon Dunes Golf Resort in Brandon, Oregon. on May 25-29.
