MADISON Wis. -- Thanks to
Emma Jaskaniec's first collegiate goal, the No. 19 Wisconsin women's soccer team took down Big Ten Conference rival Penn State, 1-0, on Sunday afternoon at the McClimon Soccer Complex.
Â
Jaskaniec's goal lifted UW to a 3-0-0 start in Big Ten Conference play, the program's best start since the 2013 season when the Badgers (7-2-1, 3-0-0) started 3-0-1. It also gave UW its second-straight win over the Nittany Lions (6-5-1, 2-2-0) and the program's fifth-ever win against PSU.Â
Â
After a scoreless first half, Jaskaniec headed the ball past PSU goalkeeper Amanda Dennis after great feeds from
Lauren Rice and
Macy Monticello. It was a game of firsts for the Badgers as not only Jaskaniec earned her first goal, but Monticello earned her first assist as well.
Â
Notes to Know:
