Irribarren's first career goal helps Wisconsin to 2-1 victory
EVANSTON, Ill. – The Wisconsin men's soccer team (2-2-0) competed in their second match of the weekend in the Lakeside Classic and grabbed a 2-1 victory against Lehigh (2-1-0), handing the Mountain Hawks their first loss of the season.
The Wisconsin offense quickly set the tone of the game by taking an early lead. From the assist of Zach Klancnik, freshmen midfielder, Iñaki Iribarren scored the first goal of the game and the first goal of his career. The Mountain Hawks quickly responded by scoring their own goal in the 11th minute of the first half. There was no scoring the rest of the first 45 minutes and the two teams went into halftime tied.
In the 59th minute of the second half, the Badgers took the lead again when Bobby Harris scored with Elan Koenig on the assist for what proved to be the game-winning goal. The Mountain Hawks were unable to answer this goal for the remainder of the game.
The Badger defense shutting out Lehigh in the second half and the offense possessing the ball for 54 percent of the game contributed to holding off the Mountain Hawks.
Wisconsin went 1-1-0 on the weekend in the Lakeside Classic.
