Nine Badgers among 54 invited to camp
MADISON, Wis.— USA Hockey has released the 2020 evaluation camp roster and there are eight Badgers, both current and former, on the list.
The camp is set to take place Oct. 25-31 at the NSC Super Rink in Blaine, Minnesota and will be used in part to help select the Women's national team for the 2021 International Ice Hockey Federation Women's World Championship. The world championship will be held in Halifax and Truro, Nova Scotia on April 1-7, 2021.
Current players invited to the camp include senior Grace Bowlby, juniors Britta Curl and Nicole LaMantia and freshmen Casey O'Brien and Makenna Webster.Â
Recent graduate Abby Roque will also be at the camp along with UW alumni and past Olympians Alex (Rigsby) Cavallini, Brianna Decker and Hilary Knight.
Cavallini and Knight are the second and third oldest invites and also the only two who competed with the 2019 world championship team. O'Brien will be the seventh youngest in attendance.
Cavallini, Curl, Decker, Knight and Roque were all selected for the U.S. roster to the 2020 IIHF Women's World Championship before the event was called off due to COVID-19.Â
In addition, UW Director of Operations and Equipment Manager Sis Paulsen will serve as an equipment manager at the camp while men's hockey video coordinator Emily Engel-Natzke will serve as a video coach.Â
