UW’s Minority Student-Athlete Union leads the way for giving back
The goal of Project 3000 is to raise $300,000 for 3,000 limited income families to "receive comprehensive support including, but not limited to; Food Security, Virtual Learning Support, Connectivity, Mentoring, Factual Communication and Advocacy."
Between September 26 and October 11, Badgers student-athletes and staff are participating in the virtual run/walk to support Project 3000's fundraising efforts.
"We are incredibly proud to support our student-athletes as they not only use their voices, but also use their platforms to bring about positive change in Madison," said Sheridan Blanford, Director of Inclusion and Engagement for Wisconsin Athletics. "We will continue to listen to them and provide ways for them to be engaged and make an impact in the world."
Wisconsin's Minority Student-Athlete Union (MSAU) is active in bringing awareness to racial injustice around Madison and would like to build sustainable relationships with others supporting efforts that support black and brown communities. This year's participation for the Badgers in Project 3000 is a continuation of MSAU's hope to grow an impactful relationship with 100 Black Men of Madison for many years to come.
On Saturday, Oct. 10, MSAU is leading the Badgers in a fun virtual 3.0 Challenge to walk or run three miles to support Project 3000. Participants will walk or run on their own, while sharing updates via social media. Anyone who has registered with Project 3000 is welcome to participate with the Badgers virtually while completing three miles of walking or running. Tag social media posts with #Badgers, #Project3000 and both @UWBadgers and @100BlackMenMadison.
