UW opens weekend at Seattle and Nashville

MADISON, Wis. - The No.21 ranked Wisconsin men's track and field team traveled to Seattle and Nashville to compete in the Husky Classic and Music City Challenge on Friday.

Distance runners shine at Husky Classic

Redshirt senior Olin Hacker run a personal best in the 3,000 meters, finishing 11th overall and sixth among college athletes in 7 minutes. 52.45 seconds. Hacker remains eighth on the UW all-time top-10 list with a personal best by over a second. Freshman Jackson Sharp won his heat of 3,000 in a personal best time of 7:59.50 to finish 17th overall. Fellow freshman Rowen Ellenberg improved his high school personal best by more than 30 seconds to finish 29th in 8:07.39. Redshirt freshman Shuaib Aljabaly was not far behind in 30th place in 8:07.47.

Field events compete in Music City

The Badgers sprinters and field event athletes traveled to Nashville for the Music City Challenge.

Senior Rashid Coulibaly won the pole vault with a personal best of 17-6 1/2, which ranks him fourth in the Big Ten this season. Freshman Chandlar Ifft cleared 15-1 to finish 10th.

Redshirt senior Zach Lorbeck recorded an indoor personal best of 23 feet, 6 1/4 inches to finish fourth in the long jump. Sophomore Peyton Frankenreider also finished in the top 10, taking ninth at 22-10 1/2.

Redshirt senior Tucker Wedig also recorded a fourth-place finish, throwing 60-11 1/4 in the weight throw. Teammate Jamar Manning took fifth at 59-9. In the higw jump, George Ghafari cleared 6-4 3/4 to finish sixth.

The Badgers wrap up their weekend of competition on Saturday at both meets.
