Men's golf resumes spring season in Myrtle Beach
MADISON, WIS.— Wisconsin men's golf is headed to Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, to compete in the General Hackler Championship on Monday-Tuesday.
Here are five things to know before the team tees off.
1. Looking Back: Last time out, the Badgers competed in the Big Ten Match Play Challenge in Palm Coast, Florida, on Feb. 7-8. Wisconsin tied Michigan State in the first round but the Spartans won the tiebreaker. The team then went on to face Ohio State, Michigan and Rutgers before returning home. Nick Robinson, Coalter Smith and Sebastian Iqbal each won two of their match ups.
2. The Course: The General Hackler Championship is hosted at the par-72, 7,233 yard Dunes Golf and Beach Club. The tournament will follow a tee time format off both the first and 10th hole starting at 6:40 a.m. CT on Monday. The second round will start immediately after the conclusion of the first. The third round will follow the same format and start at 6:40 a.m. CT on Tuesday.
3. The Field: The tournament, hosted by Coastal Carolina, will feature 14 other schools. Those included are East Carolina, ETSU, Kansas (No. 34), Kent State, Liberty (No. 35), Louisville (No. 14), North Florida (No. 46), North Carolina (No. 26), N.C. State, Penn State, South Carolina (No. 39), UNCG, Wake Forest (No. 7) and Wisconsin. North Florida won the General Hackler Championship in 2019 with a 21-under-par 843. Competing for the Badgers are Pete Kuhl, Sam Anderson, Robinson, Griffin Barela, Iqbal and Smith.

5. Looking Ahead: The next competition for the Badgers will be the Hootie at Bulls Bay Intercollegiate on March 22-24, hosted at Bulls Bay Golf Club in Awendaw, South Carolina by the University of South Carolina.
