Final thoughts from graduates Tess Hackworthy and Eloise Healey
Hackworthy, a Madison native, majored in retailing and consumer behavior. In her five years at Wisconsin, she played 59 rounds in 21 events. She competed in all six events to cap off her final season, taking first in the East-West Challenge stroke play portion at University Ridge with a four-under-par 139 (70-69). She recorded five other top-25 finishes, including a tie for 24th at the 2019 Big Ten Championship and a tie for sixth at the 2019 Cardinal Cup. Her career comes to a conclusion with an average of 75.66, including a 74.47 average for her redshirt season, which is the seventh lowest season average in program history. Over her time at Wisconsin, Hackworthy also won four consecutive Wisconsin State Open Championships, earned Academic All-Big Ten honors in 2017, 2018 and 2019, the Big Ten Sportsmanship Award in 2019, was named Co-Big Ten Golfer of the Week in September of 2019, and served as the SAAC President for the 2019-20 academic year.
Healey, a native of Liverpool, England, majored in economics and Scandinavian studies. Redshirting for the 2017-18 season, she spent four years with Wisconsin golf in which she played 29 rounds over 10 events, competing in all six events for her final season. Healey had a strong senior season where she recorded her career-best finish at her final tournament, tying for fifth place with a 222 (+8) and also shot her first ever hole-in-one at the Westbrook Village Golf Club in Peoria, Arizona, where the Badgers hosted the Westbrook Invitational. She had three career top-25 finishes and is entered in the program record book for shooting an 18-hole 69, 36-hole 142 and 54-hole 213, all at the Westbrook Invitational and all career-low scores. In the classroom, Healey led the Badgers with the highest GPA for the 2019-20 season.
What are your plans for the future?EH: "To go to grad school and play more golf!"
TH:" I am excited to start my journey as a professional golfer!"
What is your favorite memory from attending the University of Wisconsin?
EH: "Hanging out at the Terrace with friends."
TH: "Friday nights at the Union Terrace with my friends and teammates will always be a great memory that I have from attending UW. Watching the sun set while eating Babcock ice cream and listening to live music with friends was something I always looked forward to when the time came."
Do you have any funny stories from the golf team that still make you laugh?
EH: "There's so many, it is hard to choose. I always had a good laugh with Nat Zeng."
TH: "I will never forget when we were practicing our trick shots one day. Coach specifically asked us to not use our drivers. The one and only Ali Nagoette proceeded to use her driver, swinging at the golf ball that someone pitched to her. Before we knew it, Ali's driver head went flying further than the golf ball. That was the end of trick shots at practice for a while."
What is the most valuable thing you have learned while attending UW?
EH: "UW-Madison has taught me so many skills, from organization, discipline and being a good teammate. All of the resources at UW have taught me to be a well rounded person and to excel in many different areas."
TH: "Attending UW, I learned how to manage my time. Playing a collegiate sport is nearly a full-time job in addition to being a full-time student. At first, I often felt that there were not enough hours in the day to get everything done on my schedule. Being a student-athlete in college taught me how to prioritize and manage my time in order to be most efficient. I will forever be thankful."

What will you miss the most?
EH: "The atmosphere, school pride, living in Madison and 'Build Me Up Buttercup' on game days."
TH: "I am going to miss seeing my teammates everyday. Whether is was a practice, morning workouts, lunch at the Kohl Center or just seeing them around campus, I will miss them so much."
Who is someone that you would not have been able to get through school without?
EH: "My personal coach, Dennis Tiziani."
TH: "Our assistant coach, Lindsay Lovelace, she taught me so much these past few years. I am beyond thankful to have had such a great role model, mentor and friend going through college."

Is there something you wish you had known earlier in school?
EH: "There's always going to be difficulties and challenges, it is a part of the journey and a chance to get better!"
TH: "I wish I understood how fast the time goes by in college. For me, these past five years flew by far too quickly. I didn't realize how good we had it, until it was gone. In college, we have it so good with all of our best friends living just a few blocks from us. Now, we are scattered all throughout the world."
What piece of advice can you offer to next year's seniors?
EH: "Enjoy every minute of it and don't take anything for granted! It might end sooner than you expect!"
TH: "Embrace every moment and just have fun. The year flies by so take every opportunity to hang out with your friends and teammates."
What has being a Badger meant to you?
EH: "Being a Badger has given me so many opportunities that I will always be grateful for. It has provided me with a very supportive network of people and teammates, who have helped me to figure out what I'm passionate about and my future plans."
TH: "Being a Badger has opened doors to various opportunities, avenues of support and many resources that have fostered my growth as a student, an athlete on the course and, most importantly, as a person in today's society. Being a Badger has taught me that we are so much more than just our sport. The consistent encouragement, feedback and push to become better each day from people within the Badger community has helped me reach levels that I never knew were possible."
