Latest info regarding student-athletes returning to campus
MADISON, Wis. — University of Wisconsin student-athletes have been returning to campus for voluntary workouts and the start of the school year as part of a phased approach being implemented by the athletic department. Part of that phased return involves COVID-19 testing.
UW Athletics first tested student-athletes on June 8. As of Sept. 9, a total of 734 student-athletes have returned to campus. A total of 3,979 COVID-19 tests have been conducted on student-athletes and staff between June 8 and Sept. 9, and 58 student-athletes have tested positive. In addition, 25 student-athletes have tested positive at testing sites outside of athletics since their original return date to campus.
Per UW Athletics' previously stated protocols, the department continues to isolate individuals who have tested positive and UW Athletics' Infection Response Team is monitoring their recoveries.
