Wisconsin head coach will become 10th member from Badger family to get the call
MADISON, Wis. – Bearing a name synonymous with hockey in the United States, Wisconsin head coach Tony Granato is part of the U.S. Hockey Hall of Fame Class of 2020, USA Hockey announced on Monday.
Granato has devoted his entire life to the sport. That began growing up in the Chicago area, and continued as a two-time All-American, 100 career goal-scorer and captain at Wisconsin. It carried on to his NHL playing and coaching careers and his Olympic and international playing and coaching careers. It also includes 40 years helping with the American Hearing Impaired Hockey Association (AHIHA) and his current Wisconsin head coaching position.
He joins nine other Badgers who already find a home in the U.S. Hockey Hall of Fame, including most recently Mike Richter, Jim Carey, Gary Suter and Chris Chelios who were inducted as part of the 1996 U. S. World Cup of Hockey Team. Jeff Sauer, Brian Rafalski, Mark Johnson and Bob Johnson are also members, as is Bob Suter as part of the 1980 U.S. Olympic Team.
