Award marks the third time the Badgers have been honored
MADISON, Wis. -- The Wisconsin men's soccer team earned the 2020 College Team Academic Award in recognition of the players' dedicated performance in the classroom as well as on the field, the United Soccer Coaches has announced.Â
To earn the award, the team must earn a composite grade point average of 3.0 or higher in the 2019-20 academic year.Â
This marks the third time the men's soccer team has been honored since the award was initiated in 1996 -- first in 2010 and then again in 2019.
"Congrats to our guys for their hard work and dedication to their studies," associate head coach Keith Tiemeyer said. "Also a thank you to our academic advisor Kelly Higgins and our learning specialist Tracey Maloney who help our guys stay focused and emphasize the importance of the classroom and why we are all here."
The Badgers are one of 925 college teams (349 men, 576 women) to earn the award and one of 197 schools to have both its men's and women's teams recognized.Â
