Both come after outstanding performances against Ohio State
MADISON, Wis. — Wisconsin women's hockey seniors Kennedy Blair and Nicole LaMantia have earned WCHA weekly honors for the second time each this season, announced the league on Monday.
LaMantia earns WCHA Defender of the Week for the second consecutive week this season after scoring both of the Badgers' goals in Sunday's game against the Buckeyes. She recorded her second goal just over one minute into sudden-death overtime to help No. 1 Wisconsin complete a sweep of No. 2 Ohio State. Last week LaMantia earned WCHA Defender of the Week accolades after posting her 50th career point and a multi-point effort at No. 7 UMD. This is the Wayne, Illinois native's third time winning WCHA Defender of the Week.
Blair earned WCHA Goaltender of the Week for the second time this season after allowing just two goals against Ohio State. The Bismarck, North Dakota, native made 52 saves during the series to help the Badgers hold off the Buckeyes. She has a .960 save percentage and ranks in the top six in the nation for goaltenders. Blair was also named the WCHA Goaltender of the Week on Oct. 11 after leading UW to a sweep of St. Cloud State and also earned the honor last year during her first year as a Badger.Â
Both players helped UW limit Ohio State to one goal a game last weekend after the Buckeyes were averaging 4.67 goals per game prior to their weekend in Madison.Â
Top-ranked Wisconsin hits the road to face Minnesota State in Mankato this coming weekend. Friday puck drop is set for 3 p.m. while Saturday's game is at 2 p.m.
