Two Badgers crowned Big Ten swimmers of the week

Bacon and Benson bring home weekly honors
MADISON, Wis. – After a successful weekend in Tucson, helping the Wisconsin swimming and diving teams to defeat Arizona and Hawaii, sophomores Phoebe Bacon and Andrew Benson earned Big Ten Swimmer of the Week honors from the conference.
Ironically, the duo won Big Ten weekly honors together after their first week of competition last season as freshmen.
Bacon, the 2021 Big Ten Freshman of the Year, won three individual events over the weekend and was a part of two winning relays. The NCAA champion and All-American won the 100 Back (54.00), 200 Back (1:57.19), 200 IM (2:01.39), and helped win the 200 and 400 Free Relays.
Benson, a Newmarket, New Hampshire native, won two individual events and had a role in four winning relays. He won the 50 Free (19.84), 100 Free (43.49), and helped win in the 400 Medley Relay (42.87 free split), 200 Free Relay (19.81 leadoff) and 200 Medley Relay (1930 free split).
