Five Things To Know: Badgers open Big Ten Tournament play at Rutgers

UW heads east to face the No. 6 Scarlet Knights

MADISON, Wis. – The Wisconsin women's soccer team will open postseason play with one of its toughest tests of the season as the Badgers head east to take on No. 6 Rutgers in the quarterfinal round of the 2021 Big Ten Tournament.

Kickoff at Yurcak Field in Piscataway, New Jersey, is set for 2:30 p.m. CT and fans can watch the game live online through B1G+.

1. LAST TIME OUT: UW is coming off of a pair of draws at home to wrap up regular-season action. The Badgers battled Ohio State to a 0-0 draw last Wednesday before settling for a 1-1 tie with Iowa on Sunday. Emma Jaskaniec scored her team-leading eighth goal in Sunday's deadlock.

2. BIG TEN TOURNEY TIDBITS: The Badgers are making their 10th-straight appearance in the Big Ten Tournament, which takes the top-eight teams in the conference. This is only the second time that UW has been seeded eighth in the Big Ten Tournament, with the last time coming in 2003. That year, the Badgers upset top-seed Penn State in the quarterfinal round as the two teams battled to a 0-0 draw before UW advanced to the semifinals thanks to a 4-3 triumph in penalty kicks.

3. STRAIGHT FROM THE PITCH
4. AGAINST RUTGERS: UW leads the all-time series with Rutgers 6-1-2 and holds a 2-1-0 record in matches in New Jersey. The Badgers went 2-0 against Rutgers during the 2020-21 season, earning a 1-0 win at home in the regular season thanks to a Jenna Kiraly tally before besting Rutgers, 2-1, in the semifinals of the Big Ten Tournament in University Park, Pa. Lauren Rice and Emma Jaskaniec scored for UW in its comeback win over the Scarlet Knights in tournament play.

5. UP NEXT: The winner of the UW/Rutgers match will advance to the quarterfinals of the Big Ten Tournament, which will take place on the campus of the highest remaining seed on Thursday, Nov. 4. Following the Big Ten title game on Sunday, Nov. 7, teams will find out their fate in the 2021 NCAA Women's Soccer Tournament during the selection show on Monday, Nov. 8 at 3:30 p.m. CT on NCAA.Com.
